Idalou Methodist Church is seeking caring and dependable individuals to serve as nursery workers for our growing church family. This paid position includes Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, totaling approximately 5–6 hours per week.

Nursery workers provide a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for our youngest children while parents and guardians participate in worship and discipleship opportunities.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and have a heart for serving children and families.

Nursery Worker Applicatioin

Job Description:
Part-Time – Average 2-6 Hours Per Week

Overview
Nursery Workers at Idalou Methodist Church provide safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered care for infants and toddlers during Sunday morning and Wednesday evening ministry times. Their presence allows families to fully participate in worship and discipleship, knowing their children are loved and cared for with excellence. Nursery Workers report directly to the Nursery Director and are a vital part of our mission to make disciples of Jesus who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.

This position is open to individuals aged 18 and older.

Schedule
  • Sundays: 9:20 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 6:15 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.
  • Average of 2-5 hours per week, possibility of special events (Holy Week, VBS, etc.)

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide attentive, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate care for infants and toddlers.
  • Create a warm, welcoming, and safe environment where every child is valued and loved.
  • Assist with check-in and check-out procedures to ensure children are released only to authorized adults.
  • Follow established safety, hygiene, and cleaning procedures for nursery spaces and toys.
  • Communicate effectively and kindly with parents and guardians.
  • Support the Nursery Director by following established guidelines and working in harmony with other nursery team members.
  • Engage children through age-appropriate play, reading, and conversation.
  • Maintain a calm, patient, and grace-filled presence at all times.
  • Report any concerns, incidents, or needs promptly to the Nursery Director.

Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • A love for children and a desire to serve families in a church setting.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work scheduled hours consistently.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with the Nursery Director and other staff or volunteers.
  • Commitment to providing safe and responsible care in accordance with church policies and Safe Sanctuary/child protection guidelines.
  • Prior childcare experience is a plus but not required.
  • Must pass a background check.
